Rising Coloring Book

Rising Coloring Book illustrated by Polish artist, Karolina Kubikowska was originally released as a hardback edition.   Then in late August 2023, a very limited print run of a click-bound edition was released.    The click-bound edition has currently sold out at the time of writing for the first print run.

Both books feature the same beautiful illustrations by Karolina Kubikowska who has a unique and distinctive artistic style.  You will find artwork that has a strong use of black throughout with many images having solid black elements.

Inside there are pictures of women, plants, animals, and flowers to color.

Rising Coloring Book (hardback) – Features

  • Sturdy hardback with gold foil title and some elements on the front cover
  • white protective page (front and back)
  • off-white coloring pages 150 gsm
  • ancillary pages consisting of an introduction and information pages included

Comparison Rising Hardback Edition vs. Rising Click Bound Edition

You can see a comparison of the main differences between the hardback edition and the click-bound edition in the video below.     The decision of which one you prefer will ultimately come down to personal preference.

In Summary

The hardback edition offers:-

  • beautiful decorator book that could even be used as a “coffee table book”
  • a sturdy luxury coloring book that will sit well on bookshelves
  • additional pages that can be used for swatching and to protect the illustrations in the book
  • double page printing

The hardback version does not offer the colorist the ease of being able to remove pages and reinstate them easily.   This is particularly useful when illustrations are close to the gutter of the book which can often be tricky to color. The click-bound edition offers:-

  • sturdy card cover although it is likely that it will not be as durable as the hardback edition and may be susceptible to damage
  • single page illustrations
  • easy to use plastic coil binding allowing colorists to easily remove and reinstate pages.
    • There are a multitude of reasons why colorists may be more comfortable coloring the page removed from the book:
    • a) Some colorists dislike the impressions that heavy coloring can leave on the pages
    • b) Left-handed colorists may find it easier to color pictures that would normally be on the right-hand side
    • c) If you wish to avoid the awkwardness of coloring close to the spine and gutter of a book
    • d) If you wish to copy the page, color it multiple times or on different paper  (for your own personal use).

Whatever the reason, the click-bound edition of Rising certainly gives the colorist more options. However,  is not as sturdy and durable as the hardback edition.    The cover may wear out or become damaged as it is a lot thinner than the hardback edition. The coil binding is plastic which can become brittle over time.   The little “tooth” that snaps into place on the binding also may break off or become damaged with use.    This means that you may not be able to completely close the coils and not all coils will “snap” into position.     The coils really need to be treated carefully with each individual coil opened (this can be time-consuming).    Two of my coils have already broken and no longer “snap” back in place although I am still able to close the coils, they are not locked in.

About the author

coloringqueen

I'm Lea and I love everything to do with coloring! If it is a coloring book, a poster or even a bookmark that you can color in, I'm all over it. Of course, a girl has to have some pencils, markers, gelly rolls, pastels and what not to make those pictures pretty and I love those as well.

Whilst my coloring style lacks skill, I am enthusiastic and focused on enjoying the moment and having fun.
