Ingen Vanlig Dag Coloring Postcards Review
I fell in love with the art work from Emelie Oberg back in April of this year when I bought Sagolikt on a whim, as a Birthday present to myself.   Since then I’ve waited, sometimes impatiently, for more coloring products from Emelie.    All my Christmases have now come at once with three products before Christmas being released by Emelie.
Cover & Layout
The front cover of the postcard book features a slice of birthday cake decorated with berries and surrounded by flowers.  The lone candle on top indicates that this book is about celebrations of some sort.   The cover has been printed in color and there is nothing to color here or on the back with features flowers on one side of the cover.   The binding is mint green and the book is very pretty in its presentation.  The cover is matte card and with its white background does tend to show the dirt a bit and get a little grubby.
This gorgeous set of postcards features 20 images and tag lines suitable as greeting cards for a number of occasions like birthday, general thank you (tack) and plain cards without a message.    Some of the messages are in English and some are in Swedish.
Out of the 20 illustrations in the book there are 14 with some form of text on them (sometimes very small and discreet) and 6 are blank illustration only cards suitable for a number of occasions.
The postcard book measures 17.5cm x 12.5cm (approximately 6.8 in x 4.9in)
Layout
The cards are printed on lovely thick white card stock.   All of the images have been orientated portrait style. On the back of each cover is a space to write name and address and a stamp illustration. Personally, I couldn’t bear to part with my postcards and would not send them but frame them instead.
The binding is very sturdy on this book and you will need to be careful when removing the cards.   You will also notice that the postcards feature a lay flat binding allowing each page to perfectly lay down flat.   All of the art work has been well positioned on each card and centered in order to avoid the spine.
Illustrations
Emelie’s art work is cute and quirky and this postcard book reflects the same.     You will find delicious looking cakes, gorgeous animals including butterflies, a bunny nestled under mushrooms, beautiful deer and an flowers that are drawn in a very particular style that you could almost imagined appliqued or embroidered.
The line art is a crisp, black with a medium line weight throughout excepting a fine line for texture on drawings.
Visually it is very easy to see the images which makes them well suited for those that have minor visual impairment.      Some of the illustrations have a large number of details in the small spaces and these may not be suitable for colorists with motor skill impairment or other health issues where coloring tight spaces is challenging.

The postcard set is available from Sweden.  Although there are a number of online bookstores where you can purchase the cards from I find that PenStore in Sweden has the lowest shipping to Australia and very efficient service.     As yet, an English publisher has not stated whether they will be imprinting he books in English.  Fingers crossed an English publisher picks up the rigths as this will make Emelie’s work more accessible to t he world.
Happy coloring x
