Romantic Coloring Glück ist ein Wunderding Coloring Book Review
In my quest to explore artists from around the world that create coloring books I came across this lovely German coloring book by Sabine Reinhart. Sabine is an illustrator and surface pattern designer known for her adorable and whimsical prints that she sells from her website. Her clients include Adobe and Crate and Barrell. In fact, if you use Creative Cloud you may have worked your way through the tutorial that she created for using the software. You might also recognise her name as co- illustrator of Mythologica: Beasts to Color with Richard Merritt. Sabine is certainly a multi talented artist!
Cover & Layout
The cover art of Romantic Coloring Coloring Book features a crimson background with partially colored flowers on the cover. Line art for birds and flowers with dashes of gold foil create an elegant cover. You could cover this art if you wish. The cover is thin card and would look great with gel pens, pencils or markers on it. The back cover features similar art work to the front cover and also features dashes of gold foil. The publisher’s blurb is set in the middle of the back cover but it is in German and I don’t dare use my bad schoolgirl German to translate it!
The back cover has a thick piece of card as its backing (at least a few mm) which provides a sturdy support for the coloring book if you wished to color on the move. The sturdy piece of card also ensures that the book does not get as dinged about in the shipping process as other books may. However, the thick piece of card does add to the weight of the book and may effect the shipping price compared to other books.
The coloring book is presented in pad form with binding at the top. This makes it convenient to use for both left and right handed colorists.

Ancillary Pages
A plain text title page commences the book which is the only place to test out your mediums and see how they react with the paper used in the book.
Layout
Illustrations have been printed on one side of the white, medium quality paper. On the reverse of each image, flowers decorate each page and note the name of each person who is credited with the quote contained in the picture. Each illustration in the book contains some text in German. I assume that this text is a quote. As the book is presented in pad style, colorists can carefully remove each page by gently tearing at the top of the pad.

When you see the whimsical art work that Sabine Reinhart creates on her website you cannot help but hope that there will be a coloring book packed full of these whimsical and cute drawings one day. Romantic Coloring is based more on the pattern art work that she does as a pattern designer, rather than the whimsy art prints she sells.
Each page is filled with an abundance of delicate florals or a pattern. On each page a quote has been inserted in text. The text is not in outline font which means that you cannot color the quote in. In addition to the flowers that are heavily featured in the book, you will also find some beautiful birds and some fun imagery like umbrellas and cute doorways.
The line art is black, crisp and fine. Colorists that have a minor visual impairment may find that some images are challenging as they contain small elements or detailed pattern work.
