There are pages and pages of charming images for each season that promise to delight everyone-with rambling rose gardens and whimsical garden critters; wreaths and alphabets composed of fruits and flowers; butterflies and seashells; intricate falling leaves and cozy cat-occupied living rooms; ribbons and Christmas trees; and lots and lots of empty spaces, just waiting for you and your coloured pencils to complete. The Four Seasons Coloring Book will help you keep colour and joy in your life all year round."

Four Seasons – A Coloring Book – Aiko Fukawa
This is the first adult colouring book by Japanese artist, Aiko Fukawa. I hope it is not her last.
This is a beautiful book. The cover shows a depiction of flowers throughout the seasons spring, summer, fall and winter. The cover is made of card and although the front cover is glossy there may be an opportunity to colour some of the line art. The inside cover is also gloss card with plenty of items to color in.
The book is beautifully illustrated with fine line work throughout. The book has a whimsical quality about it as it is sprinkled with cute things like cupcakes and small animals.
The book is divided into the seasons with each section depicting illustrations from that season. The illustrations are printed in story book form on both sides of the paper and reverse. This is the only negative that I have with the book that it is not printed on white single sided pages. Other than that I am happy to have the off white, good quality paper and the beautiful illustrations.
Four Seasons is the first book that I have seen a piece of transparent paper added. The idea is that you colour the pre printed image on the transparency and overlay it on other images to produce different effects. It is this sort of thoughtful detail that makes this book so very special.

The translucent paper is a clever idea and new to me.
Thank you Lea
A few of the Japanese coloring books have it! It’s a great way to have two pictures in one lol. It’s also in The Mysterious Planets as well. Happy coloring x
