This beautiful Chinese coloring book has been sitting in my “to review” stack for a few years now (that gives you an idea of how far behind on reviews I am lol)
When I purchased this book, I fell in love with the cover art. As there was little information about the book, when I purchased it, I had no idea of what to expect.
It was a surprise when it arrived ……because I had imagined it as a small pocket sized book and instead it is oversized!
Whilst I adore the oversized books that I have in my collection, I find it a struggle to store them. Usually they end up laying down flat with other books stored vertically on them. Of course then you can’t access the book …so it sinks to the bottom of the pile 🙁 .
I’d love to know how you store your over sized books
The Story of the Seed is an art book, story book and coloring book combined.
Each coloring page features a cute little girl with lovely elements of nature that has a folk art appeal to it.
A colored inspirational image has been provided for each coloring page. My only nit pick here is that they are so beautiful it would be lovely to frame them. Of course, doing that would lose the line art to color 🙁
The artist uses a dull black for her lines with some solid color and textural color.
Illustrations have been printed on both sides of the off white, medium quality paper. The paper has a faint texture to it making it ideal for colored pencils.
Wet media would likely mark the reverse image and damage it.
The large size of the coloring book makes it easier to color for those with a visual or a motor impairment. However, the artist does manage to pack a lot of elements on to the page which could be distracting.
Where to buy
Happy coloring x
