Packed full of tutorials and step by step guides for background effects, sweets, shoes, skin tones, plants and more

This is the second coloring tutorial book by Jennifer Zimmermann. Her first coloring tutorial book, The Secrets of Coloring, is one of my favorite step by step guides. You can see my review of it here. I adore having a book that I can refer to, rather than searching through the internet, when I want to sit down and try something new.
Jennifer’s twenty plus years experience as an art teacher and illustrator shines through in her tutorial books. Her writing and step by step instructions take into account the varying level of experience that her audience may have. It seems like she is in the room with you, guiding you through the steps and ensuring that your learning experience gives you the best possible outcome.
This is an advanced technique book and makes an excellent companion to Jennifer’s first coloring tutorial book in this series. In this book, you will learn more about shape and form and light source. Armed with this knowledge, you will be able to learn how to map out in your mind how a page could look after applying these skills. Like all things though, you will need to practice these techniques.
Jennifer provides a number of practice pages in this tutorial book. For a limited time, you can also download a pdf bonus of practice pages. This is particularly handy as these files have crisper image quality than say copying from the book. The practice pages are provided so that you have multiple options to practice the techniques in the coloring book and also to try the techniques on different paper quality types.
What you will learn
In addition to all the tips and tricks that Jennifer sprinkles throughout the book, there are 36 tutorials (including two guest colorist tutorials). The tutorials cover background effects, seasonal objects like gingerbread men, chocolate Easter bunny (yes please!) candy canes, skin tones, eyes and theatrical portraits and more.
