Summer Blossom – A Colourful Floral Adventure

Summer Blossom is a beautiful coloring book filled to the brim with intricate floral images.

Cover & Layout

Summer Blossom has a matte cover which has been decorated with black and white line art and some yellow gold/brown pre- printing. The cover has a slight waxy texture and it would be difficult to color any of the line work on it. The book measures approximately 25.5 cm x 20.5 cm (approximately 8 in x 10 in).

Lovely detailed images with lots of fine detail

There are two plain title pages in the book which would be a good spot to test out your mediums.

The illustrations have all been printed on white, single sided trade stock paper.

Illustrations

The illustrations have all been outlined in a dull black. The majority of the illustrations are a fine weight with some medium weight throughout. There are 24 illustrations in the book in total.

All of the drawings have a lovely floral feel to them and show the aspects of looking through a garden door and exploring the elements within individually.

I am disappointed that the cover illustration has not been included in the book. There are illustrations in the book, however, that reflect all of the elements contained in the cover drawing separately ie the floral background, the keyhole and the fountain.

Lots of small details will keep you coloring for hours

Summer Blossom is packed full of floral images that have a lot of tiny, tiny details. Many of the illustrations will require you to have your pencil sharpener on hand and your fine tip markers at the ready.

There are some illustrations within the book that have some larger spaces but the majority have intricate detail. For some of these illustrations, if your eye sight or co-ordination is not the best then I would recommend just doing a wash of color rather than attempting the fiddly bits. A wash would still look just as effective, in my opinion.

The illustrations have been nicely centered on the page, although there are a few that do abut the spine to a small extent. All of the images have been orientated portrait style. The book lays down flat so that these parts can be colored easily.

Strawberry patch

For most people with visual impairment the images, in the majority, may be too challenging. I know that I will need both my reading glasses and my magnifying lamp before attempting some.
