Steampunk Devices Coloring Book Review
Steampunk is such a great concept. Mix the old with the new and wizz bang you have something great. Lovers of Steampunk will love this coloring book that has a great range of technology, metals and clothing representative of the clash of eras.
Usually, Steampunk is all about the clothes and fashion and it is really nice to see a book that has a focal point the devices. This makes it a great book for not only lovers of Steampunk but for colorists that prefer to have a break from fairies and flowers and want something more industrial to color.
Cover & Layout
Creative Haven follow the same format for every book. The glossy soft cover has a colored image from within the book on the front cover. The hand framed in an elaborate decorative frame is indicative of the art work that you will find in this book.
On the back cover you will find a similar partially colored image of a close up of a page from the book.
The inside front and back covers show a completed colored image to inspire you.
Steampunk Devices Coloring Book is A4 sized measuring in at 28cm x 21cm.
Ancillary Pages
A title page featuring some lovely line art with a cute little frog starts the book. Copy right information is on reverse and this is the only place to test out your mediums.
Layout
There are 31 illustrations which are printed on single sided, white, perforated paper. The paper is slightly heavier than trade stock. As the pages are perforated you can remove the pages and color on your worktop or clipboard if you wish. If you are using wet mediums and coloring in the book, you will need to put blotting paper behind the art work in order to protect the balance of pages.
Each illustration is surrounded by either a border or decorative frame.
Steampunk Devices Coloring Book Images and Illustrations
This is the type of book that you would grab if you just really wanted to practice coloring metals and didn’t want to color girly images of sweet little earrings and pendants. These metals are big and bold, planes, trains and more are in the book giving you an opportunity to practice different types of shading and effects (if you wanted). As well as the bold images there are also smaller pieces of metal work depicted in line art form. Watches, cogs and appliances are all there waiting to be colored.
Unlike most coloring books on the market, there are quite a few handsome men in the book to color as well as women. This gives a nice variety, especially for practicing skin tones and facial hair.
The line art is black, crisp and a medium to thick weight making it very easy to see. This also makes the book suitable for colorists of all ages. All of the images have a main focal point with background elements or textures being incorporated as well. Colorists that have a minor visual impairment may only want to color the focal point which is generally larger and avoid the detailed background elements.
