Snoopy Coloring Book  Review

Fans of Peanuts that love Japanese coloring books may love this coloring book.    This Japanese book does remind me, however of the Peanuts coloring book released by Posh coloring books last year.   I have been unable to find out if this is a Japanese edition/imprint of the same coloring book or not.   Unfortunately,  I do not own the Posh coloring book to compare the two.   A quick look at the “look inside” feature on Amazon makes me suspect that they are the same book with the same illustrations.   I am not 100% sure though.

Cover & Layout

Snoopy Coloring book has a lovely partially colored dust jacket in vibrant neons and gold.

The glossy card cover replicates the cover art with black and gold line art.  You could color this cover if you wished.

Ancillary Pages

A cute title page in shades of gray commences the book.  This might be the best spot to test out your mediums.  Over the page, there are 2 pages of character names with a little text in Japanese about them.    This is followed by a table of contents.

The book is divided into 4 parts and each part has a page that introduces the section.     The four parts that are in the book –  Part 1,  Play with Snoopy,  Part 2 – Travel the World,  Part 3 –  Party with Peanuts,  Part 4 – Go out to Nature.

Layout

Illustrations have been printed on both sides of the thin, white perforated paper.    It always seems odd to me when pages are printed on both sides but perforated.  Whilst it is easy to remove the  picture for coloring,  if you wish to frame it you will lose the picture on the reverse.

Coloring Book Images and Illustrations

The illustrations in the coloring book are all single page scenes.   They have been well positioned and centred on the page away from the perforation line to ensure ease of coloring.

Line art is black and crisp and very easy to see.    There are different line weights throughout the book but it is mainly a medium weight.

Fans of Peanuts will recognise all their favorite characters in this coloring book.  However, it is not set out in comic book form as fans would be familiar with.

This is a fun coloring book but the illustrations do tend be a bit same same.     My favorite illustrations are the full page scenes rather than the “pattern” style pictures, although they would be fun when you are feeling like doing something small.
