"Take a journey through The Garden of Earthly Delights and revel in the intricate detail of Adriana Picker's illustrations as you color to your unique style. These incredible illustrations are both exquisitely beautiful but with a dark undertone, where amidst the flora you can find lurking insects just waiting to be brought to life through color".

The Garden of Earthy Delights  Coloring Book – Adriana Picker

The Garden of Earthly Delights by Adriana Picker is presented in a lovely 25cm x 25cm square book. It has a card cover featuring plants and funghi and with some copper highlights. There are areas on the cover that you could color in if you wished to do so.

On the inside and back cover is a leafy plant scene ready for you to color in.

The illustrations are printed on both sides of the ivory paper. The paper is good quality but as always, make sure you use a blotter between pages and do a test on the title page to see if there is any bleed.

The illustrations are very intricate and mushrooms feature quite heavily in this garden.

Most of the illustrations are on one page only but there are a few illustrations that are a double page spread.

This is not a cutesy floral book by any means. I particularly like the double page spread of earth worms.

There is a range of images to suit different levels of complexity. Most of the images are really well defined with black lines and some have levels of shading as part of the illustration. There are many images within the book that would suit those that prefer large spaces and less detail. If you have visual issues you should have little problem with the images.

There are some things that I think the publisher could have improved. Some of the images could have been re-positioned on the page to avoid the spine area, and to ensure that some of the parts of the picture were not removed. As there is ample room on those pages to do so.

Overall, if you like coloring books full of lots of leafy foilage and bugs that you find in your garden you will enjoy coloring in this book. Make sure you are well stocked on green pencils as there are a lot of leaves to color in 🙂

The book was recently displayed at Kinokuniya in Sydney. The walls were covered with images from this beautiful botantical inspired coloring book. You can see some images below (they were shot through glass – so the quality is not the best).

Here’s a picture  from the book. With all the foilage in this coloring book I advise you to be well stocked up green and brown pencils if you like to replicate nature.

About the author

I'm Lea and I love everything to do with coloring! If it is a coloring book, a poster or even a bookmark that you can color in, I'm all over it. Of course, a girl has to have some pencils, markers, gelly rolls, pastels and what not to make those pictures pretty and I love those as well.

Whilst my coloring style lacks skill, I am enthusiastic and focused on enjoying the moment and having fun.
