Anthem Publishing that own the Colouring Heaven brand manages to provide a magazine packed with good value and fabulous artwork.  I was excited to see Issue 49 as the sneak peek that Colouring Heaven provided the clue that it was Canadian illustrator, Christine Karron.  Â
Christine’s artwork is stunningly beautiful.  Although she has created a range of coloring books, my favorites are her Fairies books (volumes 1 and 2) and of course Benny Blue (volumes 1 and 2) that feature the cutest bunny ever. Â

In this issue, included in the 40 illustrations are 10 that are exclusive to Colouring Heaven.  They haven’t been included in Christine’s previous fairy themed coloring books.  For a collector, like me, that makes this issue a must-have.

Colouring Heaven follow the same format in each magazine. The format is an A4 sized card cover that is colorable on both front and back with gold foiling for the title.
Each issue has 40 illustrations inside to color. Inside the front cover there are details of the artist and a color chart. On the inside back cover there is always a bonus offer.

Some of the pictures are all ready shaded in and I cannot color them. This is supposed to be a coloring book right? So why can’t I color it?
Hi Rebecca, the shading is referred to as grayscale. Grayscale coloring books is where the artist has already added in the shading and you color straight over it rather than artwork which is lines only where you add your shading, if you wish (lineart). There are numerous tutorials on YouTube that you can look at to see on grayscale. Christine produces both grayscale and line art for her images (except her Benny Blue series which is grayscale) so colorists can choose. Happy coloring x
