December! I can’t believe that the year is nearly over! It seems like just the other day, it was January and I was looking at my “to do” list for the year. I wonder if Santa feels the same 🙂
I know one thing, judging by the amount of people telling me they have added some coloring books or coloring pencils to their wish list poor old Santa is going to be broke and needing a good back rub after carrying his sack!
This going to be a busy month for Santa working out who is naughty and who is nice.
Fortunately, the big rush of new releases of coloring books has been like a tornado that has now subsided, leaving a trail of destruction in my office 🙂
There are still plenty of new releases to excite us but not as many as the pre Christmas rush 🙂
This is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all coloring books being released. Bear in mind, that there are hundreds and hundreds of books being released every month. I cannot possibly keep up with all of them!
This list of new releases is only books that have taken my fancy, and that I think that you may like as well. Due to the high cost of postage for most readers, this list will usually not include International releases.
Many of these books I will be reviewing as part of my coloring book reviews. Those books will marked with an ** after the title.
Please also bear in mind that different countries often have different publication dates. Something may be released in the US earlier than in the UK or vice versa.
This month it is all about turning those best selling fiction books and cult tv shows into coloring books! Lots of fun here and a great way to enjoy your favorites.
If you know of a new release that you think I may be interested in leave a comment in the comments area below
Let’s go …..

Japanese Coloring Books Imprint to English Editions
I love it when publishers acquire the rights to transform a Japanese coloring book to an English edition. Generally, this means that a wider range of colorists can enjoy the art work at a more reasonable cost. This month the good folk at St Martins Press are releasing as English editions, two of my favorite coloring books.
Mysterious Planets: A Coloring Book
I reviewed the original of this gorgeous Japanese coloring book by Ai Kohno, a while ago which you can see here. It tells the story of a young girl who turns into a beautiful bird and flys on a journey of adventure through planets filled with beautiful flowers or fabulous sweets. It is a very cute and whimsical book and I cannot wait to see the English edition of this book. This book is due for release on 20 December 2016 so Santa still has time to pop it in his sack.
