Animorphia – Notebook Review

The Animorphia notebook is based on the Animorphia coloring book by doodle master artist, Kerby Rosanes.    This notebook features elements of  the pictures in a notebook version.    The notebook measures 20cm x  14cm  (approximately 8 in x 5.5in).  It has a glossy cover with a fold out flap.   The illustration on the front and back has a textured embossed feel to the touch.   Orange neon highlights brighten up the monochrome cover.    The inside cover has a neon orange protector and there is always an elastic strap in the same color.    Not only extreme doodling but also extreme color co-ordination here 🙂

Animorphia series

Inside you will find the title page and  a nameplate page before moving into the notebook proper.   The notebook contains smaller illustrations from the main coloring book.  Some of the illustrations have been pre-printed with neon orange highlights or borders.  Some people may have preferred not to have doodles pre printed in color as it may affect the color scheme that they wish to use.     Fortunately, there are over 18 illustrations that do not have orange pre printed on them.

Animorphia Notebook – Illustrations have less elements than the main book

The notebook is printed on white paper which is very good quality for a notebook.    The more complex illustrations have been adjusted for notebook form with a lot of elements being removed from the notebook sized version.   Sadly, the illustrations are printed on both sides of the paper.  Many of the illustrations, particularly those complex ones that we know so well, are printed across both pages.   It will be difficult to color up in the spine as the book does not lay down completely flat.

Animorphia Notebook – blank pages with doodles

The notebook contains a mix of  blank pages and ruled pages with illustrations.    A minor negative for me, is that I would have preferred to have more ruled pages throughout the book as it is, after all, meant to be a notebook.   Sadly, some of the doodles that are on the blank pages will probably be colored next to a shopping list 🙂   For me, a mix of illustrations and blank and ruled pages with a few little discreet doodles would have made the notebook more practical for me.     As it is, I feel that it is half size travel coloring book and some notebook.

About the author

coloringqueen

I'm Lea and I love everything to do with coloring! If it is a coloring book, a poster or even a bookmark that you can color in, I'm all over it. Of course, a girl has to have some pencils, markers, gelly rolls, pastels and what not to make those pictures pretty and I love those as well.

Whilst my coloring style lacks skill, I am enthusiastic and focused on enjoying the moment and having fun.
