Alice in Wonderland  Coloring Book  Review

I never get tired of  Alice in Wonderland coloring books!   I love all the different interpretations of  “Alice” that artists and illustrators produce and they never cease to surprise me and delight me.     This coloring book presents a cute and cartoony style Alice with each illustration arranged in a circular motif.

Cover & Layout

The glossy soft cover features bright pink printing with line art collaged background.   If you study the cover, you will see that the illustrations have all been designed to form within a circle or with the bulk of the art within a circle and some elements flowing over.

You can see from the bright pink spine with white text that that is a substantial coloring book packed full of images.

On the back cover there are 6 thumbnail images from the book which shows the circular way the illustrations have been created.

Alice in Wonderland measures 21.5cm x 28cm approximately (8.5 in x 11 in)

Ancillary Pages

A quite plain title page opens the book.      There is no indication of  “Alice” but rather a series of swirls that could belong in any book.   A small message from the artist adorns the next page with some random elements to color.   These pages would be  a great spot to test out your mediums on the paper and see how they react.        It’s a shame that these introductory pages are lacking the “Alice” theme. Thankfully there’s plenty of Alice in the book not to worry about it the lack of cohesion.

The cheshire cat features on the nameplate page in a simple and cute design.

Layout

Each illustration has been printed on one side of the white, trade stock quality paper.     You will need to place a blotter page behind the project you are working on, to avoid damaging the next illustration.

All of the art work has been created within a lovely circle.  In some images, the artist has cleverly allowed some elements to drape outside the circle which gives a real Wonderland feel to the book.

The line art is all well centered and positioned in the coloring book for ease of coloring.

Alice in Wonderland  Coloring Book Images and Illustrations

Olga has managed to create a very cute and quirky Alice within this whimsical coloring book.      Her illustrations range from simple designs with large open elements to more detailed images.

The line art is black and crisp and very easy to see.   However, colorists that have a minor visual impairment, may find that because the images are in a smaller area, the circle, and contain a number of elements that it may be too difficult to distinguish between elements.     As each illustration usually contains one or two elements that have  large open spaces,  visually impaired colorists may like to color those and color wash or leave untouched the remaining line art.

Olga has provided the colorist with a multitude of things to color,   from the cute Alice and white rabbit,  to full mushrooms, gems, cute animals and  nature scenes.     There is such a variety within this packed coloring book that you may be colouring it for a  year.

About the author

coloringqueen

I'm Lea and I love everything to do with coloring! If it is a coloring book, a poster or even a bookmark that you can color in, I'm all over it. Of course, a girl has to have some pencils, markers, gelly rolls, pastels and what not to make those pictures pretty and I love those as well.

Whilst my coloring style lacks skill, I am enthusiastic and focused on enjoying the moment and having fun.
