Tiny Towns Coloring Book  Review

Tiny Towns Coloring Book is a cute, fun coloring book full of  whimsical towns.     There are towns that feature detailed fairy castles and towns that just comprise simple box like homes.     This is the sort of coloring book that is fun to color by just grabbing anything to hand and enjoying yourself.     It would also be a great book to share with a child as there is a mix of  simple outlines and more detailed art work in the coloring book.

Cover & Layout

Tiny Towns Coloring Book has a soft cover with a colored image from within the book as the cover art.

On the back cover,  there is some text about the artist.

Tiny Towns is roughly A4 sized measuring 21 cm x 28cm.

Ancillary Pages

The cover art has been reproduced as the title page for the book.  On the reverse there is information about the artist and copyright detail.

At the back of the book, you will find a blank piece of paper that you could use as a blotter between pages or to test out your mediums.

Layout

Other than the ancillary pages,  the balance of the coloring book is printed as single sided images.

The paper is white, trade stock quality.    You will need to place a blotter between pages that you are working on, to avoid bleed through or damage.

There are 30 hand drawn illustrations to color in the book.

Tiny Towns Coloring Book Images and Illustrations

The illustrations in Tiny Towns Coloring Book vary between simple outlines to  highly detailed images.    You will find a range of different types of towns from high density city living to quirky, wonky houses.    The houses vary in style showing older style Victorian and Tudor looks, stone cottages and row houses.    There are elaborate castles with multiple turrets and flags flying in the breeze, towns build on rugged landscapes and some with both distant and close up views of the town.

Lines have been drawn in a medium, black outline on the whole.   However, there are some towns like the fairy castles that have a finer line, that may be difficult for some colorists to enjoy.

Some images have a large amount of  solid black and liberal detail and hatching added while others are just simple outlines.  There are a few images that lack the crispness of the outline and look “sketchy”.

As the images vary between simple and more complex,  this would be a good coloring book for those new to coloring to start with and progress through to the more complex images.   It would also be a great book for more advanced colorists to share with a beginner or a child.

Colorists that have a minor visual impairment,  may find that there are too many elements on the page to enjoy coloring, even though some have larger open spaces.

About the author

coloringqueen

I'm Lea and I love everything to do with coloring! If it is a coloring book, a poster or even a bookmark that you can color in, I'm all over it. Of course, a girl has to have some pencils, markers, gelly rolls, pastels and what not to make those pictures pretty and I love those as well.

Whilst my coloring style lacks skill, I am enthusiastic and focused on enjoying the moment and having fun.
