Geomorphia Coloring Book Video Review
I hope you enjoyed the video review of Geomorphia  Coloring Book illustrated by Kerby Rosanes. This is the fifth coloring book in the “morphia” series.
Coloring Book Cover & Layout
Geomorphia follows the same cover and layout as the previous books in the series.  The cover is a matte laminate that has a slightly embossed texture for the illustrated area. Depending on whether you have the UK edition (what I have) or the US edition the text will be in either aqua or yellow.
Unlike the first three books in the “morphia” series, Geomorphia is printed on single pages.  There are no double-page scenes to color in the book other than the ancillary pages.
Art Work
If Kerby Rosanes had released Fantomorphia and Geomorphia as his first coloring books, we would be able to see the progression of the complexity and intricacy of his art. Animorphia, Imagimorphia and Mythomorphia all feature intricate double-page scenes of morphing that are imaginative and artistic.  Fantomorphia and Geomorphia on single pages are far less detailed than what Kerby’s long-term fans know.
For long-term fans, the artwork may be too simple in their coloring journey.  For people like me that have always been intimidated by Kerby’s complexity, they seem a good place to start and progress to the detailed works.
I was not a fan of Fantomorphia finding that it was a bundle of illustrations that didn’t appear to flow throughout the book.  In my opinion, Geomorphia is far more consistent with the theme and flow of imagery. Some of the illustrations are a bit on the plain patterny side.  As I know that I will never color a whole book, I feel that I can just disregard the ones that don’t take my fancy.
The illustrations in this coloring book feature scenes of nature morphing.  Disappointingly the cover illustration in full front and back has not been included as a double page spread.  This repeats the layout from Fantomorphia when only the front facial part of the illustration is available to color.  As the ancillary pages in this book – introduction, title and the like are double-page scenes, it seems a missed opportunity not to include the cover art as well.
The illustrations are detailed and textured with fine lines throughout the book. The artwork does run to the spine of the book, however, it does fold down easily for coloring.
Colorists with a minor visual impairment may find the amount of lines on the page overwhelming and challenging to color.  If that was the case, a color wash for the backgrounds could make the challenge easier.
