Frühlingszauber: Das Ausmalbuch für alle Sinne Coloring Book Review
It was that lovely rural scene of a bike propped up against a fence that enticed me with this German coloring book. The whimsical bird houses and the patterned fence palings looked so cute I was hoping that the whole of the book would be filled with these type of scenes to color in.
Cover & Layout
The laminate cover of this German coloring book features line art with some pre colored printing. The image of a pink bike with flowers in the basket is really charming and whimsical. Over page the design continues with more line art of the fence and flowers. A blurb and photo of the artist are shown on the back cover.
This is quite a thick and heavy coloring book for its size.
The inside cover has hot pink lining which teams well with the title color.

Ancillary Pages
The cover art has been used as line art for you to color as well. The pre printed colored areas are “greyed” out with the balance of the image being black and white line art. On the reverse there is copyright information followed by a nameplate page. One of these pages, would be the best spot to test out your mediums.
Layout
Illustrations have been printed on both sides of the white, sturdy, medium quality paper. The book lays down quite well and has good quality binding. There are a few images that merge to the spine of the book, these are easy to color due to the relaxed binding.

I had hoped that all of the illustrations would be the same type of style as the front cover but that is not quite the case. There is a variety of images, some being whimsical of cute trees with patterned leaves, bikes, birdhouses and tea cups. Then there are other images that don’t quite fit this theme of florals, patterns, quotes and itty bitty images on a page.
There are pages with quotes some in German and some in English surrounded with things to color ranging from basic to quite detailed. If you had just one coloring book, this would offer a good choice of different levels of complexity as you start your coloring journey.
As a book that has a nice variety of images to cover all your different moods it certainly hits the spot. However, I would still have preferred a book full of the sweet country side images that the front cover hinted to.
The line art is a dull black and quite crisp. The line weight is a medium and usually that is easy to see. However, many of these images contain small details or have a number of elements on a page making it difficult for those with a visual impairment to see with ease.
