An Enchanting Coloring Book – Snow White with Removable Poster
There are only a few Snow White Coloring Books that adults may enjoy on the market.    Fabiana Attansio has certainly picked a lovely fairy tale in Snow White to illustrate into a coloring book suitable for all ages.  I love Snow White, and really I love most fairy tales!  Snow White has it all! The handsome Prince, the Wicked Witch and the lovely and quirky dwarfs.
When you are familiar with an illustrator’s work like Fabiana’s it’s very easy to pre order a book with confidence.  I know from her previous books that I have being Peter Pan and my favorite fairy tale which is Alice in Wonderland that they will be beautifully illustrated and presented.
Cover & Layout
The cover is very appealing. White fold out card has been decorated with a collage of illustrations from the book. There is some pre printing in purple, reds, green, teal and gold (not foil) and gray. You will see references to the witch, apples, Snow White, poison and of course a castle. The cover in itself tells the story very quickly in illustrative form. The title has been printed in teal and the spine matches this coloring.
One of the things that I love about this series of books is that there is always consistency in the cover and layout. I love how each book has its own colored spine, making it super easy to find the one are looking for on the shelf.
The back cover also contains a collage of pre printed images and a text blurb in red about the book. The collage continues around the book to the french flaps on the inside. I adore the seven dwarves depicted on the back walking in the woods with little mushrooms, florals and butterflies decorating the scene.
On the back of the book these flaps protect the folded and glued poster that is also included in the book.
Both the front and back cover and french flaps can be colored in. On the inner cover there is pre printing of black and white line art. The images are, of course, the dreaded apple with different patterns adorning them. This cover is white glossy so you may need to use alcohol markers if you wished to color it in.
The book size is 8.4 in x 10.1 in and all the books in the “An Enchanting Coloring Book” series are the same size and format.
Ancillary Pages
A plain title page commences the book (always a good spot to test those mediums). This is followed by a double page spread title page featuring a woodland scene and copyright information on the reverse. For some reason, my mind thought “Bambi” when I seen the image of the deer and other forest animals.  I would have loved to see the seven dwarves there.
A five page abridged story of Snow White follows. This has been lightly decorated with images for you to color in including a dwarf, cauldron, florals, daggers and an elaborate wedding cake. This seems like a very good s story length to read to a child. The coloring book proper then commences.
The only thing that could improve these books, in my opinion, is the addition of a beautiful nameplate page.
Layout
All of the illustrations are printed on both sides of the medium quality white paper. The paper has a slight texture to it, making it ideal to layer pencils on. The illustrations are all orientated portrait style. There are 46 pages that comprise double page scenes in the book with the balance being images contained on one page. All of the double page spreads have line art that runs to the spine of the book. However, the book does lay down flat quite easily with some gentle pressure, making it easier to color in those tricky spots.

The illustrations in this coloring book tell the story of the Snow White beautifully. We start a picture of a castle and then the young Queen doing needlework wishing for a baby girl that she ultimately has and calls Snow White. We see baby, Snow White and are then introduced to the beautiful but wicked stepmother. We move with Snow White through the forest and her meeting with the seven dwarves, meeting the wicked witch and ultimately her handsome Prince.   The illustrations are beautifully drawn and Fabiana has managed to capture the correct look on the faces of principal characters, not always easy to do in black and white, without looking wooden.
The illustrations have been inked in black in varied line weights.   Primarily there are medium weight lines, fine lines have been used for texture and dimension and some solid black to define areas There is a lot of open space within the illustrations making the book ideal to color for all ages and skill levels.
Most of the illustrations fill the whole of the page with very little room for background effects if you wanted to add those. There are a handful of images that would be enhanced with a background color as they are positioned with a lot of white space around them.
Fabiana’s drawings, have a lot of elements to them. You will find details on the seven dwarfs’ hats and in any foreground of a woodland scene.
There are a couple of images that I would describe as pattern based within the book. Possibly this is used to give variety to the colorist, or for the times when you don’t have time or inclination to tackle a whole page. The beauty of this is that you can do a little at a time when the mood hits you.
Most of the images, although detailed and have a lot of elements, are not tightly packed. This means that there are not a lot of tiny details in the book to color, making it ideal for those with visual impairment or health challenges that make small space coloring difficult.
There is one double page illustration that has a pre printed black background on it and one single page illustration.
Bonus
One of the lovely things about the “Enchanting Coloring Book” series is that each book comes with a beautiful fold out poster. The poster is printed on white, medium weight paper and measures in at 95cm x 67 cm. This would be ideal for coloring and framing in a child’s nursery or room or coloring as a family project! The poster features Snow White, the handsome Prince and of course, the seven dwarfs
