Målarbok Kalasdjur (Coloring Party Animals) Video Review

I hope you enjoyed the video review of Målarbok Kalasdjur a Swedish coloring book by Tove Larris that translates to Coloring Party Animals.

Målarbok Kalasdjur (Coloring Party Animals) Review

I have been looking at these joyful animals online for a while now. When I placed my large Swedish order recently for coloring books curiosity finally got the best of me and I added it to the cart!

Often, I look at my books for a long time, before deciding if it is one that I want with so many coloring books to choose from it can be hard making a decision on what to buy!

Cover & Layout

The cover of this book accurately represents what you will find inside. The textured white matte card cover shows some cute animals, in party outfits ,without background or many other elements. This is the theme for the book. The spine is mint green with the text in black. On the back cover an adorable fox sleeps, tired out after the partying he has done 🙂

The inside cover flaps reproduces the title image in card form with dotted lines to cut out. From the appearance, it looks to me like the card is advertising the postcard book for this coloring book (but I could be wrong – it is in Swedish).

The inner cover has printed line art on it that you can color in as well. It features an assortment of cute critters and fun party treats like cupcakes and icecream.

The book measures 25cm x 25cm.

Ancillary Pages

A plain text title page commences the book which would be a great spot to test out your mediums. Following from that, a nameplate page appears decorated with a cute panda bear. A welcome follows that has a little rabbit waving you into the book.

Layout

The illustrations have been printed on both sides of the off white, medium quality paper. All of the illustrations have been orientated portrait style. The drawings are all well centered and positioned on the page to avoid the spine area.

There is only one double page scene within the book with the balance of images all single page drawings.

Illustrations

This coloring book is designed to be fun and simple to color. Some colorists may prefer books with more detailed and tightly packed illustrations. This book is not for those colorists. For colorists that love to color cute whimsical animals and prefer big open spaces then you may like this book.

When I first seen this book online, I thought that the illustrations in it would look adorable in a child’s nursery. I still think that 🙂

Coloring Party Animals is filled with illustrations of cute party animals. Although the animals may wear outfits, and sometimes there may be other elements in the picture like ice cream, on the whole they are simple, fun pictures. They do not have background and foreground objects to color.  I have seen colored images from the book here  and here where background effects have been added and it looks deliciously cute!

Colorists that have minor visual impairment or health issues that make coloring small spaces challenging, will love the large spaces in these images and little detail. Colorists that enjoy blending and adding background effects will be able to bring these illustrations to a new dimension.

As the images are not as complex as some colorists may be used to, it makes it an ideal book for colorists of all ages and skill levels.

The line art makes it easy for colorists to see being a crisp, black line in a medium and fine point. As the main focal point of each point does not have any background distractions, colorists can concentrate on the image without being overwhelmed.

This is an adorable book filled with fun loving critters waiting for you to add color to them.

Where to buy Kalasdjur Coloring Book

Kalasdjur has been released in Sweden. I am unaware of an English edition of this book. I purchased my book from Pen Store in Sweden who always provide great service and prompt shipping. A set of postcards is also available with 20 images to color. If you are ordering the coloring book from Sweden make sure your book refers to Malarbok rather than the postcard pack.

Happy coloring x

About the author

coloringqueen

I'm Lea and I love everything to do with coloring! If it is a coloring book, a poster or even a bookmark that you can color in, I'm all over it. Of course, a girl has to have some pencils, markers, gelly rolls, pastels and what not to make those pictures pretty and I love those as well.

Whilst my coloring style lacks skill, I am enthusiastic and focused on enjoying the moment and having fun.
