Julia Spiri Watercolour Courses

by Julia Spiri

I love Julia Spiri’s coloring books, Whimsical Wonders and Whimsical Dreams. It broke my heart when my coloring book budget couldn’t stretch to Whimsical Wonders when it was first released. Luckily, I was later able to buy it. One of the reasons that I love these books so much is the covers. That beautiful dreamy effect that Julia creates with watercolors just touches my heart.

I hoped for a long time that Julia Spiri would create a watercolour course, because I would love to learn from her and I’d love to color some of the pictures in Whimsical Wonders this way.

I was jumping for joy today when Julia released the first of her short online watercolour courses. At the time of writing, there are two online courses.  One is coloring pomegranates and one is coloring a hydrangea.

The hydrangea course took my fancy.  I am sure I have many of these flowers in my coloring books. To make this an even sweeter deal, Julia is currently providing a coupon for 60% off, so my hydrangea course only cost $10USD. I don’t know how long the coupon will be valid for.

Of course, learning how to watercolour the gorgeous hydrangeas will not move me closer to my goal of using watercolor with a Julia Spiri sprite. Fortunately for me, Julia has confirmed that she will be releasing these courses as well. Yipppee!

The courses are online so you can watch it anywhere in the world and on any device. Julia provides you with a list of materials that you may want to invest in (you don’t have to use these brands), reference pictures, a line art version of the hydrangea for the watercolor.  A bonus greyscale version has also been provided if you want to use pencils or markers.

Information for the course is provided by video tutorials and supplemented with text detailing the colors used and any other information.

You can check out the current courses here.

I'm Lea and I love everything to do with coloring! If it is a coloring book, a poster or even a bookmark that you can color in, I'm all over it. Of course, a girl has to have some pencils, markers, gelly rolls, pastels and what not to make those pictures pretty and I love those as well.

Whilst my coloring style lacks skill, I am enthusiastic and focused on enjoying the moment and having fun.
