Floribunda Coloring Book Review

To say that Floribunda is a coloring book is similar to saying a Rolls Royce is just a car in my opinion. This is a premium coloring book and one that I would class as a classic to own.

Floribunda comprises 20 delicate illustrations with a floral theme.

Cover & Layout

Floribunda is larger than most of my coloring books measuring in at 33cm x 25cm (approximately 13in x 10 in) It is beautifully presented with a lovely dust pink cover featuring black line work and gold foil title. You could color this line art if you wished.

The book contains colored illustrations of flowers featured within the book on both the front and back inner covers.

The back cover features a completed colored image from the book, giving the colorist inspiration.

Floribunda is bound with a beautiful leaf green tape which fits the floral theme perfectly. Everything about this book screams artistry to you, with the care and detail of both the presentation and the line art.

The title page features a simple drawing of a poppy. This simple drawing reflects the style of this book which is a delicate but beautiful artistry.

Illustrations

The illustrations are drawn in a crisp, black line with a fine weight, giving a delicate appearance. Whilst the line work is fine, it is still easy to see due to the crispness of the black line. The floral scenes that Leila has drawn have a lot of detail, depth and dimension to them. Even without color these would look beautiufl framed. Color woudl just increase the vibrancy and depth of these art works.

The paper in the book makes me swoon. It is not paper but cool white (not bright white) cardstock that each illustration has been lovingly printed on. It is clear that this book was made for the colorist who wished to frame or gift their completed colorings.

Each illustration is presented on the page, nicely centered and well away from the binding.    The illustrations can be easily be removed from the glue binding.    Most of the illustrations have a portrait orientation with two landscape orientation.        The florals are displayed in either a circle, square or rectangle format so the art tends to frame itself.

At the foot of each illustration is the name of the flower featured.    Not all of the flowers featured in the book are shown in the colored guide at the front and rear of the book.   If you wished to color the flowers in a realistic manner you may need to do a search online for some imagery inspiration.

The presentation of this book is top notch.    There is only one thing that I am unsure about it, and to be honest, it is more of a comment than a pro or a negative.    At the foot of the page is the text on the flower information.    There is a large area of white space between the text and the illustration.   When coloring this, I am unsure how a colorist would incorporate this into a picture if they were doing a background or framing the illustraiton.

Imagine how gorgeous this would look framed!

About the author

coloringqueen

I'm Lea and I love everything to do with coloring! If it is a coloring book, a poster or even a bookmark that you can color in, I'm all over it. Of course, a girl has to have some pencils, markers, gelly rolls, pastels and what not to make those pictures pretty and I love those as well.

Whilst my coloring style lacks skill, I am enthusiastic and focused on enjoying the moment and having fun.
