Sorry that I missed the New Releases post for May and June. For those that do not follow me on YouTube, I have been interstate for a while and working only on my mobile phone. Unfortunately, try as I might, creating this post is just too difficult for a phone. Now that I’m back home and with my computer the New Releases post will be posted at the end of each month. This is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all coloring books being released. Bear in mind, that there are hundreds and hundreds of books being released every month. I cannot possibly keep up with all of them!
This list of new releases is only books that have taken my fancy, and that I think that you may like as well. Due to the high cost of postage for most readers, this list will usually not include International releases.
Please also bear in mind that different countries often have different publication dates. Something may be released in the US earlier than in the UK or vice versa.

New Pencils by Derwent
Derwent and the National Trust have released their new Riverlands Collection. The collection is named after the National Trust’s Riverlands Conservation Programme which aims to protect rivers and wildlife, particularly those around the River Derwent in the Lake District of England. Many years ago now, I spent some time on a walking tour of the Lake District. The natural beauty of the area certainly made up for the umpteen blisters on my feet!
The Riverlands Collection features 5 sets, beautifully packaged and featuring the artwork of Claudine O’Sullivan. The sets have something for everyone whether you are an artist, illustrator, or colorists. There is a Sketching Wallet and a Graphic Set for those that like to draw. Colorists might be tempted by the pencils in their Chromaflow Set, Watercolour Set, and Pastel Set which each contain 12 richly pigmented pencils. Derwent is donating 10% of each sale from the Riverlands Collection to the National Trust’s Riverlands Conservation Programme to preserve this beautiful part of the UK where Derwent has a long-standing history and artists find inspiration for their work.
JULY
Dream Princess and Magic Coloring Book
Miki Takei who is the master of the pretty pastel look and “Colors Make You Happy” series of coloring books has a new postcard book being released this month. The “look inside” is not available at this time. However, if it follows previous postcard books it will have a small colored image and then the line art for you to color on each postcard sized page.

Zendoodle Colorscapes: Adorable Animal Babies: Cuddly Creatures
Jeanette Wummel has another cute book for the “Zendoodle” series featuring cute and cuddly animals. The publishers promise “you’ll find page after page of newborn and fresh-hatched joy and adventure “. Pages are perforated for easy removal for coloring and framing.

Creative Haven Enchanting Flower Fashions
Ming-Ju Sun has illustrated a number of floral-based fashion books for the Creative Haven brand of coloring books. This one promises “unique and romantic fashions inspired by nature”. There are 31 illustrations to color on single, perforated pages.

Tales from the Witch’s Cottage Coloring Book
Hanna Karlzon’s 9th coloring book features a visit to the Witch’s cottage where you will find “a witch’s cottage where all kinds of magic awaits. Calm your mind and your soul as you color witch’s hats, cats, and potions, as well as full moons, spells, and mysterious plants and animals. ” The perfect book for some Halloween coloring.

Moon Valley Coloring Book
Maria Trolle’s coloring book contains illustrations of a “moonlit walk through a charming valley where every nook and cranny is filled with magical creatures and dazzling nature.” A legend is at the back of the book which sets out the flowers and plants incorporated in the book.

Watercolor Cards with Foil Touches
Kristy Rice that is a dab hand with watercolors has another watercolor project for fans to enjoy. The nature based cards come with a paint dot card and brush so you can start straight away. There are 12 cards and envelopes included as well.

Manga Glow in the Dark Coloring Book
The cover of this book immediately makes me think of Camilla D’errico but the illustrators Juan and Santiago Calle have a different style of art to Camilla. You can take a peek at the “look inside” to see what I mean about the manga based characters in this book. The publishers promise “glowing universe of monster-fighting heroines, cute and cuddly ghosts, and otherworldly creatures that will make you squeal with fright and delight!”. There are 24 pages out of the 90 scenes to color that glow in the dark. Pages are perforated for ease of removal for coloring or framing.

Prolific illustrator, Marjorie Sarnat has illustrated another coloring book for the Creative Haven brand. The books feature single sided images and perforated pages. Thaneeya McArdle has a unique and fun illustrating and coloring talent. Her artwork always makes me smile just looking at it. This coloring book is huge and jam packed and filled with “84 stunning sugar skull designs inspired by the Mexican holiday, Dia de los Muertos.”

Creative Haven The Saturday Evening Post Christmas Classics
Marty Noble, that has illustrated a large number of coloring books for the Creative Haven brand has a new “Christmas” themed book based on The Saturday Evening Post. The publisher promises “31 vintage illustrations from the iconic covers of The Saturday Evening Post and its sister magazines. The holiday images, created from 1913 to 1960, are by such acclaimed artists as Stevan Dohanos, John Falter, Henry Hintermeister, George Hughes, J. C. Leyendecker, Richard Sargent, and Norman Rockwell, who considered The Saturday Evening Post to be “the greatest show window in America.” Reduced-size full-color reproductions with the original color schemes appear on the inside cover.” This promises to be a truly special coloring book!
