I know it’s only October but before you know it, it will be November.   Then we scratch our heads and wonder how did it get to December!  I think a lovely way to celebrate the festive season is by coloring something that makes YOU feel like it is Christmas.
Personally, living in Australia, it is so HOT here at Christmas that I long for something to cool me down.   Images of snowmen and snowflakes make me very happy, while I crank up the air conditioning at that time of year.   The only time I have experienced a cold Christmas was years ago, when I lived in London.  It was lovely 🙂
Our lovely coloring book artists have also been thinking about the festive season. As well as our favorite Christmas books there are new ones coming out.   I’ve put together a list of the Christmas themed coloring books that appeal to me below.  This list is not designed to include every new Christmas themed book for 2016 – just the ones I like 🙂

Johanna’s Christmas Coloring Book
The talented Johanna Basford is releasing Johanna’s Christmas.  Johanna has teased us in the past with her gorgeous Christmas page that she gave out of a star in 2014.  If you haven’t already downloaded this free image – you can go to Johanna’s site and do so here. In 2015 Johanna assisted a charity helping raise money with a release of a downloadable mini Christmas coloring book that you can read about here.
The UK version of Johanna’s Christmas has a slightly different cover from the US version.    You can see the comparison below:

 This will be Johanna’s first in store Christmas themed coloring book and I am super excited to see what the book looks like.      Johanna has created 37 images for us to color based on the Christmas theme and they are printed on single sided paper.  Usually, only the Artist’s edition of her books are printed single sided.

A Million Christmas Cats: Festive Felines to Color John Bigwood
Regular readers will know that I have a fondness for kittys, particularly cuddly kitties!  When I seen the cover of this gorgeous book I immediately thought of Lulu Mayo and her gorgeous A Million Cats coloring book.   I assume that this is part of the ” Million” series, as it is the same publisher but with a different illustrator.
John Bigwood is a UK based illustrator and has illustrated other coloring and children’s books.  Having a peek at the “look inside” I died and went to kitty heaven and immediately ordered it as my gift to myself 🙂 There are kitties in a wreath, kitty ornaments, mice with gifts and they are gorgeous!  I had to have it 🙂

A Christmas Carol: A Coloring Classic
This coloring book is based on the original story by Charles Dickens which is a Christmas classic.     It is illustrated by Kate Ware and Vladimir Aleksic.   A number of coloring books have been released by these publishers recently based on original stories including Pride and Prejudice, Wuthering Heights and Dracula.

What’s on my Christmas Coloring Book list?
I know someone will want to know what Christmas books I have so here it is.
I ordered both editions of Johanna’s Christmas and I am super excited for them to arrive! I also ordered a Million Christmas Cats because I love cats! If i had a bit more time,  I would have colored some Christmas cards this year and bought some as gifts for my mother in law .. maybe next year! The reason that I haven’t gone wild with the Christmas books is I have spent my “coloring” budget on other books, that are not seasonal 🙂
