Animals Of The Flower Time Coloring Book  Review

Who could resist a coloring book that has a bear with a pencil and a little fence of colored pencils?  Certainly not me!   A coloring book that features cute animals and pretty flowers is always going to appeal to me, throw in a bunny or two and I am a pretty happy camper!

Cover & Layout

The glossy white dust jacket features partially colored line art which looks like it was created in pencil.  The inside of the dust jacket has a pink background with white outlined flowers.

On the back colored cover a cute squirrel is seen happily playing with his vegeteable marrows, squash and what could be a pumpkin.

The cover flaps have text in Japanese at the front and advertisements at the back.

A white matte cover protects the coloring book proper and has the line art of the cover art on it for  you to decorate.

Animals of the Flower Time measures approximately 25cm x 25cm

Ancillary Pages

At the start of the  book a lovely bird and flower ball make up the elements on the title page to color.   It seems an odd choice of art work to use as there is not a cute animal in sight.     Thankfully, over the page the cuteness commences with a group of animals to color and an arrow sign instructing us to have a good time.    These pages would be great to test out your mediums or you may prefer to use the visual index at the rear of the book.

Layout

The illustrations have been printed on both sides of the off white, medium quality paper.   The paper has a light texture to it and is not completely smooth.

You will find a mix of single page scenes and doulbe page spreads.  Fortunately, the bulk of double page scenes have been really well position to aoid the spine.   THere are one or two that have line art close to the spine however.    With a little use,  the spine on this book should relax making it easy to color all areas.

All of the images have been orientated portrait style.

Animals Of The Flower Time Coloring Book Images and Illustrations

Colorists that love cute animals and a large dash of whimsy will enjoy this coloring book.    It is filled with cute animals, often just simple outlines and human like scenes.   A lot of the art has large open spaced elements making it enjoyable for colorists that have a minor visual impairment.

You will find all manner of cute things to color from teacups, cakes, outdoor scenes and an abundance of different flowers to color in.

There is a mix of single page scenes and double page spreads.    Some of the line art does run to the spine of  the book which may be tricky to color until the spine relaxes a bit.

Lines are easy to see but do not have the crispness of line art that has been digitally treated.     The lines are a dull black and a medium weight, making them easy to see for colorists with a minor visual impairment.

About the author

coloringqueen

I'm Lea and I love everything to do with coloring! If it is a coloring book, a poster or even a bookmark that you can color in, I'm all over it. Of course, a girl has to have some pencils, markers, gelly rolls, pastels and what not to make those pictures pretty and I love those as well.

Whilst my coloring style lacks skill, I am enthusiastic and focused on enjoying the moment and having fun.
