Coloring Book for Seniors & Beginners Review
This coloring book for seniors is a small book that measures approximately 21 cm x 21 cm (approximately 8.5 in x 8.5 in). I have to say, when I ordered it online, I thought it was a lot larger from the image. The cover is a nice glossy card with a partially completed image that reflects what is included in the book. On the back of the book is an example thumbnail of line work and then an example completed coloring of the same thumbnail. This is helpful because it shows that if you use techniques like blending and shading you can achieve a far different look from that shown on the cover. Bearing in mind the target market for this book, I think it would have benefited from being a larger size format.
This book is aimed at seniors and beginners at coloring.  With that aim in mind, the designs are not intentionally not as complex and fiddly as in other coloring books.  Personally, I am a fan of illustrations with less fiddly bits and more large spaces as my eyesight is not what it used to be.
The title page has a small drawing to complete.  I would have liked to see the cover art used on the title page but this is a minor gripe.   There is a short introduction from the author advising that this book is designed to have easy to moderately difficult images in it. The idea is that as your skill level increases you can progress through more difficult pictures.  Art therapy should be fun and relaxing and sometimes, particularly when you are starting out or have health issues, coloring books can become intimidating and stressful.   I think it is always a good idea to have a “simple” coloring book in your collection, no matter your skill level to give yourself a rest from detailed coloring and to see how much technique you can add to simple line work.
Coloring Book For Seniors
The paper is thin and is of the type used by independent coloring book artists.  As the images are printed on single sided white paper it is easy to put a piece of card behind the paper to absorb any wet mediums.  There are 25 illustrations in the book which comprise mandalas, paisley designs and simple patterns.
Coloring Book For Beginners
The line work is black, crisp and clear and a good line weight throughout for those with visual difficulties.

This would be nice for those with memory concerns as well. Things with too many details become very frustrating. Our loved one received a nice gift from her caretaker. We must get an electric pencil sharpener. Not sure what happened to the one we had in the past?
You are quite right. There are many medical and physical conditions where detail can be overwhelming and frustrating for a colorist. I hope that you are able to find an electric pencil sharpener that you enjoy using soon. Happy coloring x
