Notes from the Universe Coloring Book: Adult Coloring Book Review
The Notes from the Universe Coloring Book is based on the popular emailings from Mike Dooley. Mike has teamed up with his colleague, Gina Tyquiengco to produce this beautiful coloring book full of quotes from the universe.
The book has a glossy, card cover and measures approximately 28cm x 21 cm. The paper quality is good and has the advantage of being perforated for easy removal. The illustrations are all printed on both sides of the paper which is a shame. These are the types of illustrations that you may have wanted to color both sides of and frame. The book could have been laid out so that the quote was on a facing page and the image on the other. This would have allowed a colorist to remove each image and color all images with markers etc.
The paper is good quality but it does not have enough tooth to withstand markers. All markers have different levels of “wetness” so test yours on a preface page before attempting the images.
The illustrations are fun and suit the quote style book. Personally, I like this style of illustration that has a lot of white space and no fiddly detail. As the illustrations are large and without complex detail it suits all levels of colorists.
